"Wicky" Akiyo Nishiura (born August 8, 1983) is a Japanese professional mixed martial artist who trains out of the Shooting Gym Yokohama.

He stands 5 ft. 8 in. tall and fights in the featherweight division (143 lbs.).

Nishiura will next compete for the DREAM organization in the featherweight (139 lbs.) division.

MMA Debut and Shooto

Akiyo Nishiura made his professional mixed martial arts debut at the clubDEEP: Chonan Festival on October 3, 2004. "Wicky" quickly knocked out his opponent, Takeshi Sato, with a punch in only 39 seconds of the first round.

In May of 2005, Nishiura entered the Shooto organization, where he picked up another knockout victory, this time over Hiroshi Nakamura in the second round.

"Wicky" suffered the first professional loss of his career in November of that year when he went down in a majority decision to Sakae Kasuya, once again in Shooto.

Nishiura kicked off 2006 with a majority decision over Tomonori Taniguchi and followed that up with two more decision victories over Yuji Inoue and Daisuke Ishizawa at Shooto: Shooting Star and Shooto: Champion Carnival respectively.

Nishiura suffered his second career loss in December of 2006 when he went down in a unanmous decision to highly ranked featherweight competitor, Akitoshi Tamura.

He bounced back from the loss in March of 2007, when he squeaked out a split decision victory at Shooto: Back To Our Roots 2 against Hideki Kadowaki.

Following a draw to Joe Camacho in a Shooto event in August, Nishiura had one fight outside of Shooto (a KO over DEEP featherweight title challenger, Jong Man Kim) in the Cage Force organization before returning to Shooto where he picked up a third round TKO over Matteus Lahdesmaki in July of 2008.

DREAM

In September and December of 2008, "Wicky" had two fights in the Cage Force organization, winning one and losing one by unanimous decision to take his record to 9-3-1.

In early 2009, Nishiura was named to compete as one of 15 competitors in the 2009 DREAM Featherweight (139 lbs.) Grand Prix. Nishiura faced EliteXC veteran, Abel Cullum in the opening round at DREAM 7 and was defeated via unanimous decision after two rounds.
